One of the toughest places in the world
to grow quality turfgrass is between the hash marks
and the twenty-yard line markers on a football field.
Which is more damaging, the compaction caused by 300-pound
linemen, or the turf damage caused by a running back who cuts
on a dime? These are problems even in dry weather, but
with every quarter inch of rain, the problems magnify
many fold. The result can be a playing surface that
looks bad and is more likely to cause injury. Soccer
fields, especially in the goal mouth and center field
areas, exhibit similar symptoms after intense play.
As a turf manager,
your number one defense against this offense
is to improve the root-zone growing
conditions of your turf. Reduce compaction while improving
oxygen, water and nutrient flow to roots with Soilmaster
Soil Conditioner. This will help the turf repair itself
after a tough game and reduce compaction of the playing
surface, improving player safety. Your field will look
good and play at its best.
